How to identify nylon filter mesh and polyester filter mesh

Nylon filter mesh and polyester filter mesh are all can be used in filtration industry. The same colour and specifications make them hard to distinguish.

However, because the price of nylon is much higher than polyester, so it is necessary to learn a simple and effective way to distinguish.

The following are two small ways:

(1) Combustion method.

Operation: Cut a 8cm × 2cm wire mesh trim, tie it to the chopsticks with iron wire, ignite the mesh strip with a match, and the wire mesh is ignited.

Observation: Slowly burning while melting, the ash is yellow-brown glass sphere-like nylon mesh; the black smoke is burned while melting, and the ash is a soft black residue. When burning, there is a nylon mesh in the smell of wool; when it smells fragrant, it is a polyester mesh.

(2) Acid solution method.

Operation: Take a small amount of sulphuric acid or hydrochloric acid, prepare a 70% solution of sulphuric acid, prepare a 20% solution of hydrochloric acid, and put the wire mesh trim into the above solution.

Observation: The filter mesh nylon is soluble in the solution, and the polyester mesh is insoluble.
