Higher mesh screens of 200 mesh and above are most commonly used for finer images and thinner inks. Graphics, discharge and water-based inks should be silk screen printing with this mesh size. A higher grid count helps prevent thinner ink from spilling onto your substrate. If you want your plastisol prints to have a softer feel, these higher mesh counts can also help. Printing thicker ink through a finer mesh can reduce the deposition of a large amount of ink, thereby forming a thinner "plate" ink. The result is that the printed matter feels softer. Although your plastisol prints may feel softer, you may sacrifice the opacity of the ink by using a higher mesh count. If your design is designed to have very bright, vivid colors, pay attention to how much ink your screen lets you print.
